The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
