We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors. 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
