The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
