Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
