Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions ranged 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
