Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Tell them: “Wait; I too am waiting with you.” 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or do they say, 'He has invented it?' Nay, but they do not believe. 33 Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers? 37 Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof! 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
