And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
