HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood: 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 go both to Pharaoh and both of you say to him: 'We are (each) a Messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds. 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course; 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Fir'awn said unto those around him: hear ye not? 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Said Firaun, “If you ascribe any one else as a God other than me, I will surely imprison you.” 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 He cast down his staff and thereupon it was a clear serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
