The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
