The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a written book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
