The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
