Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 He plunged the villages 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
