The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 The Roman Empire has been defeated- 2 in a land close by. But, after their defeat they shall become the victors. 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 at the victory granted by Allah. He grants victory to whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 5 This is Allah's promise; and Allah faileth not His promise. Yet most men know not. 6 they only know the outward appearance of the life of this world, and they are neglectful of the Hereafter. 7 Have they never thought to themselves that Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between except with truth, and for a stated term? Yet most people disbelieve that they will ever meet their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land to see how terrible was the end of the people who lived before them. The people who lived before them were stronger than them in might, in tilling, and in developing the earth. Our Messengers came to them with clear miracles. God did not do an injustice to them but they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of Allah and they were wont to mock at them. 10
