The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
