He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruit and grass - 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
