Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
