He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 Olives and dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
