He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
