The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
