The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
