Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
