The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
