The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
