Those who spend their property for the cause of God, any time during the day or night, in public or in private, will receive their reward from their Lord. There will be no fear for them nor will they grieve. 274 THOSE who gorge themselves on usury behave but as he might behave whom Satan has confounded with his touch; for they say: "Buying and selling is but a kind of usury" - the while God has made buying and selling lawful and usury unlawful. Hence, whoever becomes aware of his Sustainer's admonition, and thereupon desists [from usury,] may keep his past gains, and it will be for God to judge him; but as for those who return to it - they are destined for the fire, therein to abide! 275 God takes away (gain) from usury, but adds (profit) to charity; and God does not love the ungrateful and sinners. 276 Those who believe, do good deeds, attend to their prayers and engage in almsgiving, shall be rewarded by their Lord and shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve. 277 O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah, and give up what remaineth (due to you) from usury, if ye are (in truth) believers. 278 If ye do it not, Take notice of war from Allah and His Messenger: But if ye turn back, ye shall have your capital sums: Deal not unjustly, and ye shall not be dealt with unjustly. 279 And if any man should be in difficulties, let him have respite till things are easier; but that you should give freewill offerings is better for you, did you but know. 280 And guard yourselves against a day in which ye will be brought back to Allah. Then every soul will be paid in full that which it hath earned, and they will not be wronged. 281
