The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
