The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
