Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
