Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
