Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
