The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
