The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
