Say thou: who guardeth you by night and by day from the Compassionate? Yet from the remembrance of their Lord they avert themselves! 42 Can their gods protect them against Us? Their gods have no power even to help themselves, nor are they safe from Our retribution. 43 We have been providing these men and their fathers with the means of enjoyment for a long time. Have they not ever considered that We populated the earth and then caused many of the inhabitants to pass away? Can they have any success (in their wickedness)? 44 Say: "I am warning you by God's command." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned. 45 If a blast of the torment of your Lord strikes them, they will say, "Woe to us! We have been unjust people." 46 We shall set up scales of justice for the Day of Judgment, so that not a soul will be dealt with unjustly in the least, and if there be (no more than) the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it (to account): and enough are We to take account. 47 We gave Moses and Aaron the criterion of right and wrong and a light and reminder for the righteous, 48 who stand in awe of their Sustainer although He is beyond the reach of human perception, and who tremble at the thought of the Last Hour. 49 This is a blessed reminder that We have revealed to you. Will you then reject it? 50
