The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on fine parchment; 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
