The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
