And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he said: "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him (Islamic Monotheism). Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?" 23 The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old." 24 He is only an insane person. Wait for some time. Perhaps he will come to his senses." 25 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 26 So We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation, and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows, put into the ship from each [creature] two mates and your family, except those for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned. 27 When you and all your followers have settled in the Ark, say, "Praise be to God who has delivered us from a wicked people," 28 Say, "Lord, grant us a blessed landing from the Ark; You are the One who provides the safest landing". 29 Lo! herein verily are portents, for lo! We are ever putting (mankind) to the test. 30 We brought another generation into existence after the people of Noah. 31 And we sent among them a messenger of their own, saying: Serve Allah, Ye have no other Allah save Him.
