▼ 37 The Arrangers
Al-Saaffaat 5 of 5
Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Why do you not reflect? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 What though they would say, 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
