And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 But when he comes to Us, he will say (to his satan): “Would that there had been between me and you the distance as between the East and the West. How evil a companion you were!” 38 And it profiteth you not this day, because ye did wrong, that ye will be sharers in the doom. 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 We shall inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from the world (before We do that), 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 And it is undoubtedly an honour for you and your people; and you will soon be questioned. 44 And ask those of Our apostles whom We sent before you: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent Allah? 45
