And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
