Seest thou one who turns back, 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 Thamud, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
