The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
