By no means! By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to humans, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
