The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And children present [with him] 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 He looked (at others); 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
