Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
