The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
