Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in an exalted garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
