Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But when sight is confounded 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
