The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
