Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven shall be cleft, 1 when the stars are scattered, 2 when the seas swarm over, 3 And when the Graves are turned upside down;- 4 Each soul shall know that which it sent afore and that which it left behind. 5 O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous, 6 Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee? 7 and set you in whatever form He pleased? 8 By no means! Aye, ye belie the Requital. 9 And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you, 10 Honorable recorders, 11 who know all that you do: 12 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 13 whereas, behold, the wicked will indeed be in a blazing fire 14 Roasted they shall be therein on the Day of Requital. 15 And they will not be able to keep away therefrom. 16 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is! 17 Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? 18 A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
