In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
