The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
