Surely the people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars. 80 We also gave them Our Signs, yet they turned away from them. 81 And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 And all that which they used to earn availed them not. 84 And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness. 85 verily, thy Sustainer is the all-knowing Creator of all things! 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 And proclaim, “Indeed I, yes I, am the clear Herald of Warning.” 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 who have broken the Koran into fragments. 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 for what they have done 93 So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 94 We shall help you against those who mock you 95 Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know. 96 And assuredly We know that thou straitenest thy breast by that which they say. 97 So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). 98 And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). 99
